Idealmente dedicato a Fred Buscaglione e alle sue atmosfere “hard-boiled” all’italiana, il FRED Bar ha aperto da poco nel cuore di Como. Entrando immediatamente di diritto nella classifica dei locali più “glamour”, il FRED sorprende per la capacità di adattarsi all’architettura del palazzo, dall’estetica “semplice ed imponente” tipica dell’epoca fascista, attraverso un minimalismo elegante, curato nei minimi particolari come ad esempio il logo all’ingresso che si integra perfettamente fin quasi a sembrare venire direttamente da un’altra epoca.
La fontana all’ingresso ripara i tavolini dalla strada trasformando un cocktail all’aria aperta in un intimo e suggestivo aperitivo.
Servizio di classe vestito ” FRED + i lake Como”, maglie rosa per le ragazze, nere per i ragazzi.

Inspired by Fred Buscaglione and his “hard boiled in the italian way” atmosphere, the FRED bar, in spite of its fresh opening in the heart of Como, is already one of the most “glamour” bar in the city.
The FRED is Well fitted in an old building with an architecture “simple and strong” in the fascist way, thanks to an elegant minimalism which can be detected at a first glance from the FRED logo that seems from another time.
The fountain near the entrance shelter the tables from the little street beside, turning an “open air cocktail” into an intimate and evocative aperitif.

I mondiali di nuoto di Roma, disputati da pochi giorni, furono preceduti da enormi polemiche a riguardo dei costumi utilizzati da alcuni atleti. Ne restò fuori la Mizuno, azienda giapponese sponsor tecnico dell’azzurra Federica Pellegrini. Federica ha vinto, indossando il SST Supersonic Serie 100, due ori e fissato due nuovi record del mondo nei 200 e 400 stile libero. Ebbene, a discapito di ciò che potremmo supporre, la tecnologia utilizzata dai giapponesi è italiana, del lago di Como (o quasi). È la Mectex di Erba che ha studiato l’innovativo tessuto con il quale vengono prodotti i costumi campioni del mondo.
Many polemics introduced the 13th Roma FINA world championship about athletes swim-suits. This problem didn’t concern Mizuno, the japanese sport brand, sponsor of Federica Pellegrini. Federica won, wearing the SST Supersonic Serie 100, two gold metals (200 and 400 mts crowl) and fixed two world records. To the detriment of what we could imagine the Mizuno japanese technology for those suits is italian… from the lake Como. It’s the Mectex from Erba the company who studied and invented the innovative fabric used for the world champion suits.
Avete voglia di un pomeriggio in bici sul lago di Como? Vorreste ma non vi sentite in forma?
Ecco un’ottima soluzione proposta dal nostro amico Emanuele. Ci segnala un percorso ciclistico semplice ma al tempo stesso molto gradevole. Scendete a Colico in treno e percorrete circa 30 km, aiutati dalla discesa, fino ad Abbadia Lariana dove potrete risalire sul treno (guarda il percorso). La strada provinciale SP72, in quel tratto, è poco battuta dal traffico automobilistico che preferisce la super strada. Il lago alla vostra destra vi cullerà fino all’arrivo e durante il tragitto scoprirete bellezze impagabili. Un esempio? Il castello di Corenno Plinio.

Would you like to spend an afternoon riding on the lake Como? You’d like but you don’t feel conditioned? Here a solution given by our friend Emanuele. He suggests an easy bike ride but really agreeable at the same time. Take the train to Colico and ride downhill for 30 km till Abbadia Lariana where you’ll can get the train again (discover the road). The road (SP72) is not busy because the cars prefer the “super strada”. The Lake Como on your right will cradle you till the arrival and during the cover you’ll find several important beauties. An example? The Corenno Plinio castel. Thanx to Emanuele for his suggestion and for the new inspiration about the use of the i lake Como mini-bag.

Pietro Ruta (6 agosto 1987) è campione del mondo! Il canottiere di Griante iscritto alla Canottieri Menaggio ha vinto assieme ai compagni Josè Casiraghi (Milano), Andrea Cereda (Tritium) e Francesco Rigon (Sile) la 4 di coppia pesi leggeri ai campionati del mondo under 23 disputati a fine luglio a Racice (Repubblica Ceca). Si riconferma quindi il team che dopo la sfortunata gara dell’anno scorso a Brandeburgo, persero il meritato oro a causa di un remo messo male in acqua, ha dimostrato quest’anno la sua supremazia vincendo con netto vantaggio.
Complimenti Pietro (e a tutto il team naturalmente) e auguri per il tuo compleanno!
Pietro Ruta (6 August 1987) is world champion! The rower from Griante (Canottieri Menaggio) won with Josè Casiraghi (Milano), Andrea Cereda (Tritium) and Francesco Rigon (Sile) the 4X Under 23 competition at the 12th ICF flatwater racing world championships juniors in Racice (Czech Republic). The team that last year in Brandeburg got the second place because of an unlucky event, this year demonstrated its supremacy by winning with a great lead.
Congratulations Pietro (and to the whole team of course) and happy birthday!
Arte, storia e cinema.
Originaria della fine del XVIII secolo, la Villa del Balbianello domina la punta della penisola di Lavedo a Lenno. Oltre ad essere un gioiello architettonico, il giardino a terrazze e la loggia a tre arcate ne sono l’emblema, la Villa offre la visita alla ricca collezione d’arte e ricordi di viaggio del suo ultimo proprietario, l’esploratore Guido Monzino. Per sua volontà, dopo la sua morte nel 1988, fu ceduta al Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano.
La Villa del Balbianello oltre ad essere meta di visite artistiche e turistiche è stata location per alcune scene di due film indimenticabili, conosciuti in tutto il mondo: Guerre Stellari Episodio II – L’attacco dei cloni e 007 – Casinò Royale.

Built at the end of the XVII century, Villa del Balbianello dominates the Lavedo peninsula in Lenno. Not only an architectural jewel, on top the park and the three arches loggia, the Villa offers the visit to a rich art and memorabilia collections of its last owner, the explorer Guido Monzino. After his death in 1988, the Villa was given, according to his wishes, to Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano.
As well as artistic and touristic destination, Villa del Balbianello was chosen as movie location for a couple of unforgettable movies: Star War Episode II – Attack of the clones and 007 Casinò Royale.
